*1:30PM Women’s Softball vs. Patten University
3:00PM Men's Baseball vs. Asuza Pacific University
Let’s cheer on our current Vanguard teams together! The softball and baseball fields on-campus will play host to our NAIA competitors. Siblings of current students and alumni will also receive a special Gold Pride gift.
*1:00 - 3:00PM Family Fun (The Cove)
The whole family is encouraged to get involved in our Family Feud extravaganza. Please RSVP to syoud@vanguard.edu so that we can plan games and award prizes.
*3:00 - 4:00PM Life on Campus (Needham Courtyard)
Meet faculty members, students, and other families within your student’s department. Find out why they chose their major, and what they can do with their degree. Light refreshments will be served.
*4:30 - 7:30PM Dinner in the Café or on your own
Enjoy a delicious meal in our Café or go to your student’s favorite restaurant off-campus.

Come enjoy a night at the theatre. Every performance has a different ending because the audience votes for who they believe is the culprit! Light refreshments will be served at intermission.
*10:00PM Sibling Sleepover Kick-Off (Cove)
This is a special time for our students to show their siblings what Vanguard is like first hand. We will kick off with a gathering for some goodies, and then for those siblings of appropriate age, it is off to the dorms. Those siblings of an opposite gender from their older brother or sister are welcome to stay the night with one of our Ambassador students. To arrange an overnight stay, please contact syoud@vanguard.edu

9:00AM Breakfast with the President (Forrest Room)
Have an intimate yet casual time with Vanguard’s President. Mingle with other parents and administration to see what makes our campus feel like “home.” Continental breakfast will be served.
9:30AM Chapel with President Carol Taylor (Needham Chapel)
Join us for this Homecoming and Family Weekend tradition as we worship, read Scripture, and pray together. The message will be given by Dr. Carol Taylor, who will share the vision for the future of Vanguard. Music will be provided by one of Vanguard’s chapel worship bands. Chapel credit is offered for current students.
10:00AM – 5:00 PM Homecoming Exhibit (Library)
Tour a special Homecoming exhibit of Vanguard traditions and archives at the O. Cope Budge Library on-campus. Yearbooks from each decade will be available on the study tables for Alumni and families to peruse as well.

Shop ‘til you drop at the Orange County Marketplace! Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Meet at the tent in front of Needham Chapel.
*11:00AM/12:00PM Men & Women’s Tennis vs. Azusa Pacific University
Meet at the tennis courts at Tewinkle Park [970 Arlington, Costa Mesa] to cheer on Vanguard.
*12:00PM Lunch (Café)
Enjoy a delightful meal in our Café. This meal is included in the Family Weekend fee.
11:00AM - 1:00PM Alumni Awards Luncheon (Newport Mesa Church)
Hosted by your Alumni Board of Directors. The Vanguard Barber & Beauty Shop Quartets will be featured along with the Golden Vanguard Society (Alumni from 1920-1960). The Class of 1961 will be inducted as new GVS members. Alumni Awards will be presented to the following:
Alumnus of the Year: Lloyd Zeigler ‘77
Career Achievement Award: Rick Myers ’85
Distinguished Service Award: Dale Coad ’76, MA ‘86
Young Alumnus of the Year: Brad Bentley ’96
Cost $20 per person. Class of 1961 is complimentary with reservations.

2:00PM Family Weekend Concert (Newport Mesa Church)
Enjoy an afternoon concert of Vanguard’s world-renowned music ensembles including the Women’s Chorus, Concert Choir and Orchestra. Highlights will include the “Parent of the Year” essay contest award presentation. FREE.
*2:00PM Young Siblings Fun (Smith 101)
In lieu of attending the Family Weekend concert, siblings age 5-13 are welcome to join our Frontline staff for some fun activities. Bring tennis shoes and get ready for a great time.
5:00 - 6:30PM Alumni Family Tailgate Party | IN-N-OUT Truck (Towers Lawn)
The In-N-Out truck will be by the Gym before the Vanguard Homecoming Basketball games. Bring your family & friends to join in on the fun. Face-painting will be provided by the current SGA and student leaders. A photo booth, bounce house… and dessert to celebrate 90 YEARS OF VANGUARD will also be a part of the celebration! *In case of rain, festivities will move inside to the Towers Lobby. Cost $5
5:00PM 20 Year Reunion: Class of 1991 (Towers Lawn)
This year marks 20 years since the SCC Class of 1991 graduated. Bring your family & friends back on-campus for a time to reconnect. Special seating will be provided at the Alumni Family Tailgate Party. On behalf of the Alumni Relations team and Class Representative, Mike Hanson, we hope to see you there! *In case of rain, festivities will move inside to the Towers Lobby. Cost $5
5:30/7:30PM Women & Men’s Basketball vs. The Master’s College (The Pit)
Cheer on our Vanguard Lions as they challenge The Master’s College! The Vanguard University Concert Choir will be singing the National Anthem and the Alumni Upperdeck will be open during halftime of both games. See who will be crowned the 2011 Homecoming king and queen too. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for non-VU students with ID. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
